I was notified by one of our residents that someone had attempted to break into their car the other day, which was parked in their garage, while they went back inside for a very short period of time to grab something. Luckily, nothing was taken and the men ran off when the resident walked back into the garage, but I thought I would go ahead and send out an email reminding everyone to take precautions against theft as it seems like there is typically a spike in this type of crime around the holidays. Here is a list of Safety Precautions that Master Sergeant Bob Skalla recommended we take in order to help prevent home and auto burglaries. In many cases these are easy things such as locking doors, turning your exterior lights on and shutting your garage doors. Not trying to freak anyone out, but just want everyone to be aware.
