Safety Meeting Notes

Thank you to those who attended the safety meeting on Tuesday evening. For those of you who weren’t able to attend, please follow this link http://grovehoa.com/library/10111206.pdf to find a list of precautions that Master Sergeant Bob Skalla recommended we take in order to help prevent home and auto burglaries. In many cases these are easy things such as locking doors, turning your exterior lights on and shutting your garage doors. Sergeant Skalla informed us that he drove around the neighborhood before the meeting and found 8 garage doors open in the south and 28 garage doors open in the north with no homeowner in sight. That is an easy target for criminals.

Sergeant Skalla is also pushing for us to start a neighborhood watch patrol, which was talked about last year but never really got going. This would actually involve homeowners driving around the neighborhood in shifts looking for any suspicious activity and reporting to 911. We would need 20 or 30 volunteers to make this happen and each person would need to take a neighborhood patrol training class with Sergeant Skalla. He will be teaching a class at the Hefner station 3924 NW 122nd street on October 29th and November 19th from 7-8pm. He also said if we get enough people he will come to the clubhouse and teach the class.

I would like to form a safety committee and am looking for a volunteer(s) to run it. Getting people involved in the neighborhood patrol would be a big part of this. Please let me know if you are interested in heading up this committee or would just like to be part of the neighborhood patrol. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Jarod
